Campy Creatures

Created by Keymaster Games

Choose your creature, outwit your opponents, capture the Mortals. It's a ghoulish game of bluffing and deduction for 2–5 players. It's fun for Mortals ages 8+ and plays in 20–30 minutes.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

The Final Days and The Demogorgon
about 7 years ago – Thu, Mar 02, 2017 at 10:32:25 PM

The end is nigh Mortals! We’re in the final days of our campaign and we're oh so close to unlocking the next Stretch Goal which gives all games a custom plastic insert for elegant component organization. We’ll be looking into doing all we can to accommodate sleeved and un-sleeved cards like we did with Control. With this one down soon, there will just be two more to go :)

GeekDad Review and Reveal

In other news, GeekDad featured a review on Campy Creatures saying. “For a light bluffing game, Campy Creatures is a blockbuster... It’s the perfect game to break out in-between other games and given that it’s more a psychological game than a game of skill or luck, it has the potential to be a ton of fun, based on your gaming group.”

If you head over to the post, you can also grab a sneak peek at what The Demogorgon will do! For setup, he'll be switching in for The Invisible Man. It's a press your luck style ability and the Mortal you capture remains—wait for it—upside down until the end of the round.

More Mortals

Josh is cranking through those Mortals and we wanted to share another sketch below. In other news, his movie-sized posters recently arrived from the printer and turned out beautifully. If you purchased one through his site, they'll begin shipping out over the weekend.

Keep up the good work, and the poster giveaway across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is still open if you'd like to enter.  Look forward to chatting soon.

Cheers,
Kyle and Mattox

The Final Week
about 7 years ago – Tue, Feb 28, 2017 at 04:49:02 PM

The last week of our Kickstarter campaign is at hand! This campaign has been a blast all thanks to you Mortals. We have a few more things in the works to help us end with a bang and hopefully reach those final Stretch Goals :)

The Big Giveaway

We are giving away $100 worth of Campy Creatures! The winnings include ONE Copy of the game, THREE 8 x 10 in. poster prints (Your choice of creatures), and ONE 18 x 24 in. limited edition silk screen print (Your choice of available creatures). The giveaway will take place across our three social media channels with one winner selected. Each person receives one entry per channel (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) for a max of three entries. Click the channel below to find out how to enter on it:

Entries will be collected until 11:59pm EST on March 6 and the winner will be announced the following morning.

Mortal Artwork Incoming

There's been a few questions about whether Mortals will be illustrated. They will! We'll be updating our Instagram if you want to follow along to see the sketches and how they evolve into their final versions. We're planning on having all art finalized a week or so after the campaign so we can get the files to our manufacturer asap.

We've got a few more plans for the week that we look forward to sharing when the time is right ;)

Cheers,
Kyle and Mattox

You’ve Really Done It this Time
about 7 years ago – Fri, Feb 24, 2017 at 10:31:44 PM

You just had to go and do that didn't you. You made us hit another Stretch Goal. All the power you Mortals are putting into this campaign is upsetting the creatures.

Now the box and Creature Eye-cons on player tiles will be all nice and shiny in all the right places. As you can also see there's been a few updates to the Stretch Goals. We removed the chipboard goal since that didn’t feel as exciting with the recent meeple change (granted, the Clash-O-Meter mat and player markers will still be great quality). Custom meeples were more affordable than expected so we were able to get that goal in at an attainable place and here's a look at them:

We also really want The Demogorgon to happen so we decided to eat a little more cost on our end and lower the goal. Let’s do this!

Lastly, we tried to get printed meeples to work out, but they turned out to be a bit more expensive—making the cost to manufacture the game too high... But if there's enough interest for these as an after-the-campaign add-on, then we could look into making them separate. We would need to make at least 1500 of each so to gauge interest, would you comment here to let us know your interested if the cost was around $7:

Component Update!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 22, 2017 at 10:15:14 PM

Hello again Mortals,

We're back this week with a little less than two weeks left on the campaign! We'll try and keep this one short and sweet as we hope to have more news in the near future.

Early on we received some feedback from backers about finding a better solution to the score-tracking situation around the Clash-O-Meter. We originally went with that pointer design as the Clash-O-Meter is moved a few times per round and we didn't want things getting in the way of player movement. As we tested some other solutions, we found that smaller-sized meeples work like a charm to track player scores—giving the game a much more solid (read less fiddly) feel. So, we're excited to say we'll be going the custom meeple route and each one will be colored to match the card backs.

These will be included in the base game (no Stretch Goal is needed). Because of this change, we'll be finessing some of the other Stretch Goals so expect an update on them soon because less chipboard is in the mix. For a separate Stretch Goal, instead of just a single monstrous meeple cut for each player's color, we're looking at the possibility of having each player's meeple be a custom monster shape based on their personal (eye-con).

Josh has been working hard on the Mortal illustrations, and we look forward to sharing some concepts and teasers of them oh so soon.

Kyle and Mattox

Prowling Right Along
about 7 years ago – Fri, Feb 17, 2017 at 07:23:30 PM

Hello Mortals,

Because of you, it’s been another lovely week in Kickstarterland. Campy Creatures is prowling right along as we hit our second stretch goal yesterday! The box will now be extra nice and thick. You might just want to hold it and never open it, but really... you should :) We’re so encouraged by the feedback from those that have Print-n-Play'd the game: Played the PnP twice in two days. Love it! We're going to wear out this copy waiting for the official one to deliver later this year. - NonZero Sum Games

In Other News

Podcasts - We've been thrilled to hear talks of Campy Creatures across the airwaves. Master of 1 mentioned it (46:18 mark) in a recent podcast, and we're excited to chat with them next week for their next one! Campy Creatures was also kindly included in Dice Hate Me's The State of Games (1:31:10).

Upcoming AMA on Reddit - Mattox will be doing an AMA(Ask-me-anything) on Reddit Board Games this Monday at 12pm EST. You can ask him things about Campy, things about making games, or just why he hates wooden popsicle sticks. Really, it can be anything. We tried to sneak an AMA in this week for those of you that joined, but we quickly found out we needed to schedule it out :)

Video Interview with Keymaster Games - We were honored to be interviewed by the fine folks at One Board Family where we chat about Control, Campy, and how Keymaster Games got its start.

Posterama

Josh Emrich has done it! The man behind all the fancy artwork now has limited-edition, signed, movie-size posters available on his site for pre-order. Snag one before they all get captured like a Mortal on a moonlit night. There's also 8 x 10 inch prints over on the campaign if that's more your style.

Keep Up the Good Work

Thank you all for sharing pics, talking about the art, or coming up with new and interesting creature ideas. It means a ton, helps get the word out, and allows us to make the best game possible :) We're glad to have you on board. That's it for now. Look forward to talking again soon.

Cheers,
Kyle and Mattox
